The Sims

It has been almost one month since new semester started, and I am grateful that I take the subject Information Technology, because I am able to learn a lot on information technology. One of the reason is I learnt about the Second Life. It is an online virtual world that enables me to explore another world, make new friends, and share idea and experience with other people. It is indeed a fun and interesting site to join.
Before I acknowledge about the Second Life, during my free time, I play The Sims, which is different from the Second Life. The Sims does not need to go online to play and thus does not allow any communication with other people or make new friends. The Sims focuses on human life, whereas the Second Life can be of robots or animals.
The same things between these two are that we can customize our own avatar, buy land, and build our own house. In The Sims, we can control our avatar to meet new friends, find jobs, and do daily tasks, and on the other hand, we can meet new friends and communicate with others ourselves through the Second Life.
Nonetheless, both are great games to be played during free time and can help to relieve stress from work. I would continue to play these two games whenever I am free.
=)

Bone marrow needed

Last few days I came across heart-wrenching news about a girl named Janet Liang who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Lymphoblastic leukemia is a rare form of cancer that originates in the lymphocytes of the immune system. She is a student of UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) taking bachelor of degree as an International Development Studies major and Education minor.
From what I read from her website, I believe that she is a strong and positive-thinking girl that is brave enough to face this rare disease. She wrote about how her life has changed when she was diagnosed with the disease, how she undergoes those painful treatments, and how she manages to overcome all those fears. She is undergoing her treatment at UCLA Medical Center. Her disease is treatable and cure-able. She needs to find a bone marrow donor which is her match. It is upset to know that her younger brother and the only sibling is not her match of bone marrow. Here is a website about her and to encourage people to be as a donor and save lives.
I admire her for she managed to endure all the pains and fight with the disease courageously. Sincerely hope that she will be free from all these pains and suffers and become a healthy person like she used to be. =)

CNY celebration

Chinese New Year has always been a joyous event of the year for me and my family, and I believe for everyone who celebrates it too. It is the time for all family members to share happy moments together.
On 23rd January 2012, it is the first day of Chinese New Year or so called ‘chu yi’, meaning Day one. Early in the morning, I dressed up myself and ready to go to grandparents’ house and meet with relatives. At my grandparents’ house, we would have a bowl of noodles called ‘Longevity noodles’ in a hope to live a long life. We would receive red packets called ‘ang pau’ from relatives, and hopes to bring a prosperous life.
In the evening, we would pay visit to other relatives’ houses and wishes each other a great year ahead. It was a busy and tiring day as we visited from house to house. On the second day, I went out to pay visit to my friends’ houses and we would chat, share experience and laughter. Overall, I enjoyed my Chinese New Year break a lot and it was another memorable and happy time in my life. =)

Chinese New Year eve dinner

On 22nd of January 2012, the day before the first day of Chinese New Year, as usual tradition, I will have a dinner together with all of my family members. Chinese New Year eve dinner is a time for us who have been live far away from each other to come together and enjoy a memorable night. We had great meal at a restaurant. We talked about each other's lives and shared experience we gained through last year. My grandmother was the happiest person on that night as all of her sons, daughter and grandchildren had gather and shared happy moments together. It was indeed a great time to bond together.

CNY preparation

Chinese New Year is just around the corner and I am ready to clean and decorate my house when I reached home. Early in the morning, after having breakfast with my family, we are getting ready to do cleaning tasks. Each of us have different cleaning task to do assigned by my mother. We cleaned the fans, mopped the floor and rearranged the furnitures.
After had lunch in the afternoon, we continued to decorate our house with Chinese New Year decorations. The decorations have dragon as the theme because this year is dragon year for the Chinese. After all the cleaning and decorating, my house looks great with tidy view and red colour decorations on the walls. I am very glad to have helped my parents cleaned the house and this relieved their burden a lot. We had a great bonding session during the cleaning hours.
Now I am looking forward to celebrate Chinese New Year 2012! =)

A new Chinese New Year song to share. ^^

My hometown

I am so happy that I am going home to celebrate Chinese New Year also called Lunar New Year. I was born and raised in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, a place well-known with beautiful islands for example Pulau Redang. I am proud of my hometown as it combines old traditional building and also modern architecture. I will be going home together with my hometown friends and we are so excited about it. Here, I would like to show a few beautiful places that can be found in my hometown.

good news

I have received news on the rm200 book voucher given by government through UCSI University email. Me and my friends were so happy about it. We cannot wait to get the book voucher and shop for the books we wish to buy such as some reference books and novels. I would really love to grab the chance to spend the voucher well and buy books that I long to have. =)

enjoyment

Today, I went out with my cousin sister and we had a happy moment together. She has been working in Kuala Lumpur for about 5 years, and is living a life she enjoys. We had lunch together at a restaurant famous with noodles. We also did some shopping for the coming Lunar New Year celebration.
After a satisfying shopping, we stopped by MPH bookstore. I love to be in bookstore, searching for books, and sit down to have a read. My favorite section is the fiction novel. I love to read fiction books because the story is narrated by the author and is full of imagination and fantasy. One of my favourite author is Meg Cabot. I have a collection of her books since I was small. I enjoy reading her book a lot because her story is always full of suspense, imagination, and excitement. I will be totally absorbed into the story when I am reading it. This is a link to her official website.
At night, I had a good dinner with my cousin sister and then she fetched me back to my place. We said good bye and promised to hang out together again in time to come.

Maybank Malaysia Badminton Open 2012

Yesterday, I went to Maybank Malaysia Badminton Open 2012 semi-final day at Putra Stadium Bukit Jalil with my friends. When we reached the stadium, first we queue up at ticket counter to buy our tickets. There was a mountain of people gathering at the stadium to watch badminton games live. After we have bought our ticket, we went into the stadium and grabbed good seats to watch badminton games comfortably. In the stadium, the crowd was huge and each cheering for favorite badminton players. I was impressed by the strong support given by the fans even though some players failed to live up the hope. In a nutshell, I have a great day attending the event.
Here is the photo of me and my friends at the stadium.
